Meet Zuri: An Ambassador for Change

Zuri Mumbi, 18, has received life-changing support from Empowering Everyday Women.

Three years ago, then 15-year-old Zuri, from Mombasa, Kenya, had a life-changing encounter with Empowering Everyday Women.

Her family, like many in her village, struggled to make ends meet and often went to bed hungry. Despite these hardships, Zuri's spirit remained unbroken.

“As a young girl, my grandmother taught me to have strong faith and that God answers our prayers,” said Zuri. “So regardless of how hard things got, I never gave up hope for a better future.”

One day, while fetching water at a nearby river, Zuri prayed to God to provide more food and resources for her family. Around that time, EEW had launched a campaign to help vulnerable families by providing them with essential resources like food, clean water, and education. We were praying that God would send us generous donors to support the mission. And that He did!

Zuri’s family was among the beneficiaries of donors’ generosity. “My family watched in awe as boxes of food and supplies were brought into our home,” Zuri recalls. “The love, support, and kindness of strangers was helping turn our lives around.”

As the days went by, Zuri's family flourished. The extra help allowed them to enjoy nutritious meals together and gave them hope for even brighter days. Her parents were also able to focus on finding steady work without the constant worry of feeding their children. Meanwhile, Zuri continued her education with renewed vigor and dedication.

As time went by, Empowering Everyday Women remained a vital source of support for Zuri's family and others in their village. The generosity of the donors not only provided for their immediate needs but also planted seeds of hope and opportunity for future generations.

Zuri, now 18 years old, hopes to continue her education, though she is currently working to help support her family. Despite Zuri’s resources being limited, she is passionate about giving back to her community the way kind donors gave to her family.

“If I can do half as much good as the supporters who changed my family members’ lives did, that would be amazing!” Zuri told EEW. “It is my goal to do all I can to be an ambassador for change.”

Speaking of ambassadorship, Zuri has become an ambassador for Empowering Everyday Women, participating in awareness campaigns by sharing her story and encouraging more people to support EEW’s mission—to meet both natural and spiritual needs of women and girls worldwide.

Through dedication and generosity, EEW and its donors have touched and continue to touch the lives of many families – just like Zuri's. In turn, we are creating a ripple effect of hope and good deeds that have spread throughout Kenya and beyond.

You, too, can be an ambassador for change. Let God speak to you concerning what to give.
