Full Bio

Dianna Hobbs is an award-winning journalist, author, ministry leader and mental health advocate. She founded Empowering Everyday Women Ministries in 2007 and leads EEW Magazine Online as its founder and editor-in-chief. She writes and hosts the devotional blog and podcast Your Daily Cup of Inspiration, and she co-founded the American Alliance for Black Mental Wellness.

In 2019, a rare reaction to a common antibiotic left Hobbs with a traumatic brain injury, paralysis and the loss of her speech. Her recovery, and the grief that followed, shaped her new devotional, Finding Gratitude in the Dark: 28 Days to See God’s Goodness More Clearly. She is also the author of God Did It: A True Story of Miraculous Healing and the recording artist behind the worship single “Don’t Know Why,” whose video has passed one million views on YouTube.

Her work has been featured by The Washington Post, Christianity Today, The Christian Post, TCT, PBS, ABC and NBC. She and her husband, Kenya, live in Buffalo, New York.

Story Ideas

  • Gratitude when the holidays hurt: how to give thanks while grieving.
  • Faith, therapy and emotional honesty: a ministry leader on living with PTSD and anxiety, and why gratitude never requires denying pain.
  • Writing from the valley: how an award-winning journalist, relearning to speak and write after a brain injury, wrote the series that became this book.
  • Turning 50 against the odds: a birthday she once feared she would not see, and a book seven years in the making.
  • A free 28-Day Gratitude Challenge that runs Nov. 2 through Thanksgiving weekend.

“People in a low place need to hear from someone who is struggling day in and day out like them. They need to learn how to be grateful through it, not after it or for it.”
