Hope. Help. Healing.
“Very often, when a tragic story drops out of national headlines, the public moves on and forgets about those whose lives are forever changed in the most devastating ways. Please, don’t forget Buffalo, NY.” ~ Dianna Hobbs, Buffalo resident, founder

Empowering Everyday Women Ministries, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization located in Buffalo, NY, has launched the #BuffaloStrong movement. Its purpose is to promote help, healing, and love over hate.
“Hatred is what fueled the racist massacre at Tops Friendly Markets on Jefferson Ave., the city’s predominantly Black East Side, that left 10 dead and 3 injured,” said Hobbs, 45, who leads our team that directly provides resources to individuals affected by this horrific act. “Though the story is no longer dominating media, families and residents throughout the city are still trying to pick up the pieces of their lives.”
Buffalo, the third poorest city, was already hurting before the attack with nearly 3 in 10 residents living in poverty. For children, it’s more than 4 in 10. In 2019, the last year for which figures are available, the poverty rate stood at 28.8 percent. And with inflation skyrocketing, conditions are worsening. We cannot just sit on the sidelines and do nothing.
Empowering Everyday Women’s award-winning founder is adamant about using her influence to shine a light on the injustices and struggles that yet persist—and you can help. We invite you to join our mission to fight for those disadvantaged by systemic racism, the lack of grocery stores in East Side neighborhoods that contributes to food insecurity, and the lagging financial support for inner-city schools.
Donate a gift of any size to help us give more food and resources to families in need while creating a stronger, more equitable future. Together, we can strengthen individuals, families, neighbors and communities and make Buffalo strong.
